About Personal Training

Your first session will be a free 60-minute consultation and fitness assessment. The first 10-15 minutes may include a survey of your workout space, discussion about your goals, and body measurements. For the next 15-20 minutes, you will warm up and perform several strength and flexibility tests. Rich will coach you through light to moderate full-body exercise for another 15-25 minutes. The last 10-15 minutes will be spent on recovery and discussion. Resistance bands, agility training equipment, and a TRX suspension trainer will be provided during your sessions. It may be beneficial to get your own equipment depending on your goals and the results of your fitness assessment. Future sessions will also be 60 minutes long and follow a similar outline consisting of consultation, warmup, the body of the workout, and recovery.

You have the option to receive nutrition coaching during consultation. Rich will provide recommendations for meals and recipes based on your food preferences and goals. Depending on your goals, you may be assigned daily targets for total caloric intake and macronutrients –carbohydrates, protein, and fat. You will learn how to read and understand nutrition labels so you can make the best choices when grocery shopping. You will also learn how to identify healthy options when going out to eat.

You will receive shared access to an interactive Google spreadsheet containing monthly calendars and all of your workouts. Use this spreadsheet to track your sessions, provide feedback for each session, and let Rich know about any other activities you do between sessions. The calendar for each month will include weekly goals, monthly goals, and your workout plan for the month to provide a step-by-step approach to achieving your long term goals. Your workout plan will consist of strength training, cardio, and any other activities that you participate in. You may also be assigned daily exercises to help with the development of basic strength, mobility, and injury prevention.
